General Conference Notes

General Conference April 2012

*Note, these are not all of my notes... I am rather prolific in my note taking, so I tried to summarize. You can, if for some reason you want to...they can be found here...like I said, this blog is more of my journal, so it's more so I have a trail of everything. Also, these are in order of the speakers, I just didn't identify it in this copy...in the full version over on Google Docs, I did include them of course. :)

Keep the sunshine in your heart, go forward in faith, let go of your fears, let your cares depart, trust in Christ.

find the beauty in your world, treasure it, search for it, hope for children and progression

He knows and loves you perfectly, so trust where He has put you and what He has put in your path.

Remember the worth of each other, and don’t get stuck focused only on yourself, your needs, your wishes, etc. Christ is taking care of you, and has asked you to help take care of others now too.

Be Christ centered in thought, speech, and action. Endure until the end is part of this pattern, have the gift and POWER of the HG, lifted up. Power that comes by being faithful disciples of Christ and loving those around us. Love is root of all virtue and strength and fidelity to do right.

Desire to serve Him. Be humble in your sacrifice and in your views of each other. What can you do in your ordinary life? Put aside your quest for personal fulfillment, that is the path of the world, your fulfillment will work itself out. Seek to help fulfill those around you. It’s true isn’t it? Then what else truly matters?

Life requires patience. Have faith that Christ will give you strength to endure. Act on the pure love of Christ, forgive, and serve them. Polishing takes time, and you will get there, yes, even you with all your weaknesses, He has a plan and knows how to help you get there, just like He is there for His prophets and leaders, your path may be different, but the end is the same, feel the Love of God, angels in your life to help bear even you up. You are not alone, you are treasured and you are on the right track, the road may seem hard and long, but you are stronger than you know when you keep trusting in God each day. Choose today to remember Christ and walk in His paths.

Redeemer of Israel is leading you to Zion in Love. Keep walking through the valley of death, and find joy in Christ. Fear not, the tokens already appear, rejoice. The hour of redemption is here. :) Trust in Him, your Lord and Savior, even Jesus Christ, He is Here in all your trials and will hasten peace to your heart.

Enjoy the blessings, and surely I am free to do what is right, ‘why should you be jealous because I choose to be kind?’ There are times when someone else gets unexpected blessings and special recognition. Please do not be hurt, or feel envious when good fortune comes to others. We are not diminished when others succeed, this is not a race. Step up, do what is right. You are loved and watched over. You can have the future He envisions for you, and it is glorious beyond description

The sacrament gives us an opportunity to come to ourselves and have a mighty change of heart and be more obedient. Meet together often to remember and to commit to do better, we all need help.

Serve significantly. Pray for others. Your best is good enough. Despite all struggle, be determined and keep going. Happiness will come. Let it into your heart today.

Build things of eternal worth. Do not be weary of well doing. Do my actions place me in the Lord’s or the enemy’s territory?

be a force for good! Don’t be tone-deaf to the music of faith. Do not become discouraged. Have faith, live like Christ which is the determining test of mortality.

Trust in God. Learn to ASK, that is how we receive revelation, and we need it so much. I fast, I pray to find and understand important/helpful scripture. Ponder. When we think of others first we gain inspiration more often. We were not put on earth to fail but to succeed gloriously. Be wise.

pure word of God to heal the broken hearts. Envy and hatred are the beginnings of tragic stories; remember that people often have good motives and we should not try to justify ourselves through envy and resentment. Let go of hurt and learn to heal through the Atonement. Yes, of course it is difficult. Remember even small sins are enough to keep you from eternal peace. Let go of pain and anger. Lay your burden at His feet, let His atonement change your heart.

Make a list of how you can do better, and how you see His hand in your life today. We are all born with a capacity to grow. There are good things in store for you this week, today, this month. We have a great responsibility. Believe in God, that He is, that He created all, that He is all wise and powerful, and repent and humble self before God.

learn special lessons tied to eternities. We all need help. I need help. You need help. We learn special lessons through challenges. Works of God shall be made manifest in our lives, learn patience faith gratitude through service. Don’t despair because you see not, “I will not leave you comfortless...my peace I give unto you...let your heart not be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Keep listening and learning from the special lessons.

You are part of a glorious heritage. Find patterns and examples of worthy and righteous things to follow in our lives. Align yourselves with God. Live your part faithfully. Your future is full of promise.

The core doctrine is reestablished: Godhead united--repent and believe in Christ, Keep your heart open to the Spirit, and follow its teachings, even if you are surprised at first. The fundamental principle is the testimony of Jesus Christ, that He lived, died and was buried, and rose again.

Everywhere people are in a hurry. Mediate on timeless truths. Seek to be obedient in heart, mind, and deed. Be there with Him Reach heavenward for assistance as we make our way along life’s pathways. Let your destination be more than the end of the path of least resistance. Choose actively. He remembers you. He speaks to us all, come to Him, come up, come in, come home, come unto Me. (Interesting progression. First, we don’t know Christ, we must come up from the world, let ourselves into His love, His home and peace, and then we can come to know Him and find peace with Him.)

Heavenly Father, my heart is hurting again. I am sorry it hurts so easily, I just feel like I have been given a promise, and it’s hard to see it happening, ever, just the way things are going right now. I don’t know what to do or how to set aside my sadness and hurt, I know how, I guess, so that is not quite accurate- I just need a little help again feeling happy. I know that Thou hast beautiful plan laid out for me and I just need a little added strength to keep going is what I am asking for today. I do not want to fall to grief or pain, and I want to keep the vision in my heart, so please help me. “May we be willing listeners” from the opening prayer. Keep trusting Him, even when things keep coming up. Angels are near you and will give you aid, wherever and whenever you need it. Come unto Jesus, He is reaching out to you, run to Him.

Prepare and participate in your life. Share your love with others. Share the tender mercies. Let Him heal your heart. He knows what is at stake and He knows how to best help you achieve it. Please don’t give up, you are so close. Let your heart be of good cheer. Personally work for what is right.

We have the HG to follow back to the right path, and through the Atonement, we can end being lost and in the dark. We can find light and joy. Happiness is found in specific places, in the home, in service, and by following Christ, strengthening each other. Prioritize, then act in that order. Remember to love. Be honest and honorable in heart, seek what is good.

Fasting and prayer, utilize the blessings of heaven to prepare for our bright future, act by seeking the Lord’s blessings. All will be well, you know this. Gain and act on your vision of eternity. Believe that HE can bless you with vision, desire, and strength to act. Have faith, little one. Accept His invitation, come unto Him.

Act only by persuasion, long suffering, gentleness, meekness, and love unfeigned. know that I am loved. I am welcome. I am home. This is the Lord’s way. Come unto Him

Spend time in the things that matter most. We are all part of the great work, and have a great worth and ability to help further the work. Who can you help? He will direct you, and you can be an instrument in His hands

Our strength to endure depends on our ability to recognize, remember, and hold sacred that which we receive from above. We encounter the Divine every time we feel the Spirit. If you desire a further witness, remember the witness you have received, it truly is from God. What greater witness can you have than from God?

See the Lord’s hand all around us, we know our eternal destination. You have a lot to work on, and as you hunger and thirst after righteousness, we will be given guidance on how to get there. In our darkest hours, remember to pray. Pray for inspiration. Continue to walk. Hope. Pray. Sing as you go. You will be found. You are heard. You are treasured. See the miracles during the pain.

May we call upon Him always, He will pour out His Spirit upon us, and we will find peace and strength that we desperately need.

Only He can save our hearts and souls and restore them to joy. We need Him every hour because sin and weakness are ever present, and only He can help us, save us truly from the darkness; in joy and in pain. Keep learning. Keep trying a little harder to be a little better, more like Christ.
